Arrangers & Tuners

Allan Gervais

Picture

Allan came to tune for Casablanca as his first band in the North with a well established reputation as a tuner for a number of bands in the South. Noted for his speed and accuracy and a tendency for odd shaped notes, he brought in a new ringing sound to tenor pans and revolutionized the sound of the bass pans.  He died in 1977.

Carlton "Lax" Marcano

Lax who was originally from Tunapuna also played with bands in the Success Village area before finally coming to Casablanca. He shared arranging duties with Richard "Lil Man" Gaskin before becoming the principal arranger when he took the band into the Prime Minister's Best Village trophy competition with "Finlandia". Some of his notable arrangements include the famous " Rejoice Greatly".
